Before the pandemic halted the travel industry, we had never been on a cruising holiday. We had always thought of trying it out to see if we would enjoy the experience, however, we were caught in the trap of Orlando vacations. When the world slowly started to reopen, we learned that cruise lines were offering staycation cruises within the UK. So we thought it was a sign to try it out. Well, the rest is history. I'm sure by now if you're reading this blog, then you probably know that we got hooked!
So we thought this post would be a great insight for those of you out there who also want to experience a cruising holiday but aren't sure if it is for you.
Going to bed in one port, and waking up in another
Our top thing we love about cruising is the mobile experience. You can simply explore one destination, go to sleep, and wake up in another, ready to be discovered.
No jumping in a car, or on a plane to travel to the next place, its all done whilst you enjoy the amenities of the ship.
In some destinations, your ship will be docked in such a central location, that if you want to pop back to the ship half way through the day, freshen up, and have a bite to eat, then explore the city after, you can! What's more, is you don't need to pack heavy for a day out as everything travels with you in your room, perfect!
Trying new food
I am (Dan) a very fussy eater. If you have seen our vlogs you know we love a good buffet! This is because we get a ton of choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. We can both get what we want and, mix and match as much as we want!
Some premium dining offerings also offer food experiences such as P&Os Epicurean where you pay a cover charge for the entire menu.
There is a cruise for everybody
Whether you want an action packed adventure, or a more relaxed luxury experience, there is a cruise for everyone.
From Carnival's Mardi Gras with its Bolt: Ultimate SeaCoaster, and Waterworks waterpark, to the luxurious all suite Silver Dawn with its immersive food experiences.
Easy to plan
Rather than planning a detailed road trip with flights, car hire, hotels etc, a cruise is so much easier to organise.
With a fly cruise your flight and transfers are included so no more tracking flight costs.
Some cruise fares even come with additional benefits such as car parking or bus travel to the port.
Do it on your terms
A day at sea or in port is whatever you make it. Sometimes you might just want to relax and sunbathe by the pool, alternatively you can book an excursion to explore your port. The experience is truly adaptable.
