Join us as we board Valiant Lady for a 7-Night French Daze, and Ibiza nights cruise.
In this vlog we visit Marseille, and Cannes. We begin the day in Barcelona after an early morning flight from the UK. After making our way to the cruise terminal, we quickly boarded the ship at our embarkation time thanks to our ‘ Splash of Romance’ package we had booked in advance. This package came with a few perks we talk about in the vlog including priority embarkation, champagne, thermal spa access, and additional benefits too.
On boarding we made our way to our XL Sea Terrace cabin, first impressions of the cabin felt a little thin, but actually we came to love this cabin and found the terrace and cabin features to be great! And who can forget the red hammock! The XL Sea Terrace does boast an extra 30% living space, with double the storage of a standard sea terrace. The safe was also large enough to store a MacBook! Which makes a great change to having a smaller safe. There were plenty of sockets, EU and US, as well as USB ports throughout.
For the first time since we have been cruising, we had to visit our muster station and listen to some safety information. We did not have to take our life jackets, or go into too much detail, but a member of sailor services was on hand to talk us through the process of attending a muster station, and the use of our life-jackets.
For our first meal we headed to Razzle Dazzle, this included restaurant offers American cuisine, with a wide variety of both vegetarian and meat products. The food was exceptional. We were blown away by the quality of food onboard Virgin Voyages, and many of the restaurants onboard offer speciality-dining quality food, for no extra charge. All the menus from the restaurants onboard can be found at here.
Later that evening we sailed away from Barcelona, and took in an evening stroll onboard. Although the weather wasn’t too great, it didn’t stop us from getting familiar with the ship. George had to try relaxing on the net at the Athletic Bar on Deck 16. With the foggy weather approaching, the PJ party began, this was a party like no other we have experienced at sea, most people were in their PJs with a drink in hand, and we were there to soak in the atmosphere.
Our first stop, Marseille. Although we didn’t leave the ship on this port day, we spent the day exploring the ship even more. For breakfast we visiting The Galley and picked up some food from Diner and Dash. A tad later we had some room service arrive. The room service menu is quite in-depth onboard Virgin Voyages. There is a $7 delivery charge for room service, however if you purchase an item that comes with additional charge, the delivery fee is waived. In the evening we visiting The Manor to enjoy ‘It’s a Ship Show’, a dinner complimentary dinner show onboard. Make sure you book this when you get onboard to grab your place. With variety act performances and a four course meal, this was the perfect setting to enjoy your evening.
Our next stop, Cannes. Prior to leaving the ship via tender, we enjoyed room service breakfast. We had purchased an excursion prior to our voyage names ‘Create your own fashionably French Itinerary’ for £100pp. This excursion took us via bus to the centre of Nice, and to Monaco. In Nice we had plenty of free time to explore the local area, relax on the beach, and even do some shopping. In Monaco, we took in the sights of the Casino, the Marina, and had a bite to eat.
Back on the ship and we headed to The Galley for dinner. With many options available, there is always something for everyone, so was just an easy place to grab dinner before enjoying our evening.
