Cunard Welcomes Michelin-Starred Chef Michel Roux for 2025 Norwegian Fjords Residencies

Culinary enthusiasts and luxury travellers have something extraordinary to look forward to in 2025, as Cunard announces the return of Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux for a series of exclusive residencies aboard two of its iconic ships. Following the success of previous collaborations, Roux will once again bring his culinary magic to the high seas with “The Norwegian Fjords with Michel Roux,” a set of four special Le Gavroche residencies set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Norwegian Fjords.

Next year, guests aboard Cunard’s newest ship, Queen Anne, and the world-renowned flagship, Queen Mary 2, will have the unique opportunity to indulge in the culinary creations of one of the world’s most decorated chefs. The series will see Michel Roux overseeing four Le Gavroche residencies across four voyages between April and August, promising an unforgettable dining experience that marries the luxury of Cunard with the gastronomic excellence of Le Gavroche.

The first of these residencies will be hosted on the Queen Mary 2, commencing on 6 April 2025. This five-night takeover of The Verandah will coincide with the ship’s seven-night roundtrip Fjords sailing, offering guests a five-course tasting menu that epitomises the flavours of the sea. Crafted with the finest ingredients, each dish will showcase Roux’s mastery in elevating simple produce into exquisite culinary masterpieces.

Following this, Roux will take his culinary talents to Queen Anne on 11 May 2025, for a Fjords voyage where guests will experience Le Gavroche at Sir Samuels. This residency will feature a stunning array of seafood specialities and classic dishes, all imbued with Roux’s signature finesse.

Roux’s culinary journey aboard Cunard will continue with another residency on Queen Mary 2 on 15 August 2025, before concluding with a final takeover on Queen Anne on 31 August 2025. With each residency catering to an intimate number of diners—60 in The Verandah and 50 in Sir Samuels—guests are assured a truly personalised and exclusive dining experience.

Beyond Fine Dining: A Holistic Culinary Experience

Michel Roux’s presence aboard these voyages extends beyond the dining table. Guests will also have the chance to attend a live cooking demonstration in the Royal Court Theatre, where Roux will share his culinary secrets and techniques. Additionally, as an Insight Speaker, he will offer captivating stories and insights from his illustrious 40-plus-year career in the hospitality industry. To commemorate these experiences, there will also be book signing opportunities for those wishing to take home a piece of Roux’s culinary wisdom.

For those looking to further indulge in seafood delights, Roux will be launching an elevated seafood concept: Oysters at The Champagne Bar (Queen Mary 2) and Oysters at Carinthia Lounge (Queen Anne). Here, guests can savour the freshest Norwegian seafood, perfectly paired with champagne, and available every evening of the voyage on a walk-in basis.

A Unique Collaboration

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, expressed her excitement about the upcoming residencies: “We’re thrilled to continue our successful Le Gavroche at Sea residencies. Our guests expect exceptional experiences, and having one of the world’s most celebrated chefs on board to create special menus and host exclusive events is truly special.”

Michel Roux echoed her sentiment, stating: “It is always a privilege to revive the essence of Le Gavroche and I am thrilled to be collaborating with Cunard for a second series of takeovers next year. This project is incredibly rewarding and allows me to craft signature menus that capture the spirit of adventure as well as the art of accessible fine dining. I am hugely excited to get back on board and showcase the beauty of Norwegian seafood to Cunard guests.”
